About the role:

 

The Development, Drill & Blast team is looking for a Blasting Technician to support safe, precise, and efficient blasting activities that drive our success.

This is a great opportunity to be part of a high-performing team at the core of production excellence.

 

Reporting to the Supervisor Drill & Blast, you’ll play a key role in the safe execution of blast activities, maintaining blast areas and infrastructure, installing blasting accessories, and ensuring accurate loading and pumping of explosives into drill holes according to plan.
 

Duties:

 

  • Work closely with the Shotfirer to prepare the bench for blasting, including tasks such as barricading, delineation, priming, loading, stemming, and off-siding
  • Carry out blast guard duties to ensure team safety during firing operations
  • Perform QA/QC checks on blast holes to maintain high safety and quality standards
  • Follow all blasting procedures and processes rigorously
  • Maintain accurate and compliant records in line with Roy Hill’s standards

 

Skills and Experience:

 

  • A valid manual C class driver’s licence (essential)
  • Previous experience in blast crew operations within a mining environment (essential)
  • Dangerous Goods Card (preferred)
  • Sound understanding of mine safety regulations and explosive handling procedures
  • High attention to detail, particularly when it comes to safety, compliance, and technical accuracy
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow work instructions independently
