About the role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Mine Environmental Supervisor to join our dynamic Environment and Approvals team at the Roy Hill mine. In this key leadership role, you will report to the Superintendent Environment and lead a team of environmental advisors and field technicians, ensuring our environmental monitoring obligations are met in line with Parts IV and V of the EP Act and the Roy Hill Water Management Plan.
As the Mine Environmental Supervisor, you will play a vital role in supporting operational areas by responding to environmental incidents, conducting site inspections and audits, and ensuring compliance with Roy Hill’s environmental management plans and procedures. You will also champion environmental awareness across the site, fostering a culture of compliance and sustainability. Additionally, you will oversee the development, training, and performance of your team while providing valuable support to the broader environmental department.

Duties
- Inspire and support your team through ongoing leadership, mentoring, and training, helping them grow, stay engaged, and achieve their best
- Provide leadership and guidance on technical environmental matters to site-based personnel, fostering a culture of compliance and sustainability
- Conduct monitoring, reporting, and compliance activities to meet statutory environmental requirements, and manage non-compliance or incidents in line with Roy Hill procedures
- Assist in developing environmental documentation and prepare internal and statutory environmental reports
- Provide support to site personnel and contractors to ensure effective controls are in place and align behaviours with Roy Hill’s core values
- Interpret legislation, government standards, and agreements, providing informed advice, identifying risks, and recommending improvement opportunities to management
- Provide robust technical review and mentoring for environmental documentation and analysis
Skills and experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or a related field
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills, with the ability to support the development and performance of a diverse team
- Proven experience in conducting on-site compliance inspections, audits, and environmental incident investigations
- Strong environmental technical skillset to review documentation and conduct scientific analysis; particularly relevant to groundwater and surface water
- In-depth understanding of environmental regulatory frameworks, particularly permitting and compliance under the Environmental Protection Act 1986 and the Mining Act 1978
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- A current WA unrestricted C Class driver’s licence
