About the role

An exciting new opportunity currently exists for a Specialist Heritage to join our Corporate Affairs team based in Perth.

 

Reporting to the Manager Community and Indigenous Affairs, you will be responsible for the development and execution of comprehensive heritage approvals plans that ensure our operational mine sites have the necessary approvals to deliver on medium and long-term objectives. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure heritage considerations are seamlessly integrated into mine planning and development processes, and liaise with Traditional Owners, community representatives, and regulatory bodies to secure

heritage approvals in compliance with legislative requirements.

 

  • Collaborate with mine planning teams to understand medium and long-term plans, including proposed disturbance timing, proximity to protected areas, rehabilitation schedules, and changes to published plans
  • Develop and execute heritage approvals plans, including engagement strategies, application submissions, and regulatory monitoring
  • Lead engagement with native title groups, including consultation schedules, heritage related meetings, and negotiation of non-objection letters
  • Coordinate and administer heritage elements of Cultural Heritage Management Plans (CHMPs), including implementing initiatives, facilitating repatriation, and maintaining relationships with Traditional Owners
  • Maintain the heritage GIS dataset and ensure compliance with evolving Aboriginal Cultural Heritage (ACH) legislation
  • Develop and implement heritage-related aspects of the Social Performance Plan and contribute to Social Investment Plans
  • Prepare and submit mandatory heritage reports and ensure compliance with approval conditions

 

Skills and experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences or a Science degree
  • A sound knowledge of Aboriginal Cultural Heritage legislation and heritage approvals processes
  • Experience working for a Prescribed Body Corporate
  • Extensive experience working with and gaining the support of community members, particularly Aboriginal and land-connected peoples
  • Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to positively influence others
  • Experience working within the mining industry
  • WA ‘C’ class manual driver’s licence
