About the role
We are currently seeking a dedicated Senior Advisor Environmental Approvals and Compliance to join our Environment team based in Perth. In this newly created role, you will develop and implement environmental performance, auditing, compliance and management systems and processes for Roy Hill operations. You will have the opportunity to mentor and guide team members, ensuring that all environmental and project approval requirements are meticulously managed and monitored. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring compliance is met, and environmental performance is accurately measured and reported.

Duties
- Maintain and develop an Environmental Management System (EMS) in line with ISO14001: 2015, regulatory requirements, and Roy Hill's vision and values
- Support site operations in EMS implementation, focusing on auditing compliance and routines
- Provide guidance on environmental inspections, and incident investigations, and manage legal obligations and reporting schedules
- Develop compliance documentation, communicate requirements to managers and teams, and escalate significant compliance issues to the Manager Environment and Approvals
- Monitor and improve environmental performance, ensuring alignment with business systems and implementing necessary measures
- Establish and conduct auditing systems and programs to manage business performance against environmental risks and legal obligations
- Liaise internally and externally regarding environmental performance and compliance, providing current information to the Manager Environment and Approvals
Skills and experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or a related discipline
- Experience in compliance management and monitoring within a mining/ resources environment
- Experience implementing Environmental Management Systems (EMS)
- Knowledge of environmental and other mining approval requirements under the Environmental Protection Act 1986, Environment Protection & Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, Mining Act 1978, and other relevant legislation
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with internal stakeholders and regulators, reporting compliance against obligations
- Qualifications in environmental auditing practises and incident investigation will be beneficial
