About the role
The Technology Operations Infrastructure team at Roy Hill plays a crucial role in our success by consolidating key technical capabilities in one location. This strategic approach enables us to prioritise and execute tasks efficiently, ensuring seamless support across our operations.
An exciting opportunity currently exists for a Networks Specialist to join the team on a 12 month fixed term contract. Reporting to the Superintendent Industrial Communications and Networks, you will provide Level 2 and 3 support services for the IT and OT systems, operational teams, and connected IT/OT equipment used by Roy Hill. This role involves service ownership, which includes the maintenance, risk management, and optimisation of these systems to support the organisation's operational and strategic objectives.
Duties
- Develop, maintain, and optimise maintenance schedules, ensuring alignment with Operations schedules for safe, reliable, and efficient technology delivery
- Coordinate the resolution of incidents, problems, change management, and release management to streamline workflow
- Participate in major incident responses, including after-hours on-call support as required
- Identify, prioritise, and drive integrated improvement opportunities across operations and functional teams
- Implement system changes to enhance safety, production efficiency, and overall system performance
- Manage vendor relationships, including support cases, patch releases, upgrades, maintenance schedules, license renewals, asset management, and lifecycle planning
- Lead root cause analysis and problem investigations for high-impact faults, ensuring swift resolution and continuous improvement
Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience within an operational support role with a high-level understanding of IT and OT infrastructure, ITIL principles, and cloud platforms (Azure)
- Experience managing large-scale enterprise IT and OT environments, and the roll out of complex network services for large multi-site organisations
- Proven experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform), scripting languages (Python, PowerShell), and managing configuration items (CIs) in CMDB systems
- In-depth knowledge of routing and switching technologies (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), wireless networking, and network security principles
- Proficient in network monitoring tools (Solarwinds, Grafana, ThousandEyes, Wireshark) and experience with VoIP technologies, LTE packet core, and IP/MPLS technologies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Proven analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills, with experience in diagnosing technical issues, handling multiple tasks, and meeting deadlines
- Expertise in risk management and business continuity, including developing and implementing risk mitigation plans, disaster recovery, and failover systems
