About the role

An exciting new opportunity currently exists for a Lead Community to join our Corporate Affairs team.

Reporting to the Manager Community and Indigenous Affairs, you will play a crucial role in leading Roy Hill’s community engagement and the planning and implementation of social investment initiatives. The successful candidate will maintain strong relationships with traditional owner communities and other key stakeholders, including community leaders, non-profits, prescribed body corporates, and local government officers. Additionally, the role involves representing Roy Hill and the broader Hancock group at community forums and industry committees.

 

Duties

  • Foster strong relationships with traditional owner communities and key stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and mutual trust
  • Plan and participate in social investment initiatives, including community consultation, development, evaluation, and implementation
  • Organise and manage community events such as NAIDOC week celebrations, school holiday programs, and emergency relief coordination
  • Coordinate internal volunteers to support community partners
  • Coordinate responses to feedback and grievances received from the community
  • Coordinate cultural awareness presenters
  • Develop and manage the annual community team budget
  • Contribute to regular reporting of Community and Indigenous Affairs department progress

 

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience working in a diverse community engagement related role
  • Experience working in the Pilbara and experience working with Aboriginal communities and non-profits
  • Well-developed problem-solving and organisational skills
  • Solutions focussed with the ability to develop strong working relationships and influence positive outcomes
  • Ability to earn the support of community members, particularly Aboriginal and land-connected peoples
  • Leadership training and formal qualifications in social performance or community engagement beneficial
