About the role: 

As a newly created position, this is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a role where they can make an impact and directly contribute to the development and delivery of NPI Non-Process Infrastructure accommodation room upgrades, dining hall refurbs, power/ comms upgrades projects within our Sustaining Capital team working at Roy Hill Mine Permanent Village. 

  

Reporting to the Portfolio Lead this role will be working on a number of projects concurrently. The role is to plan, co-ordinate, and control the design, procurement and construction phases of multiple projects. You will ensure project completion is in accordance with the business and statutory requirements, and within the time and cost constraints to achieve the delivery objectives. You will provide support to the Portfolio Lead, principal engineers, project delivery team and construction personnel. 

 

Key duties: 

  • Provide technical advice, write and review scopes of works. 
  • Assist with the interface between engineering and construction team members, sub-contractors and key stakeholders to provide solutions and support successful delivery of study and/or projects. 
  • Management of variations by analysing the implications of scope change on issues such as cost, safety, quality, and schedule. 
  • Assist in the management of all variation/TQ/RFI and action registers. 
  • Propose alternative solutions where established systems are unable to overcome project problems. 
  • Control project programming, cost control, cost management, time control, quality control, purchasing, contracts administration, and indirectly oversee construction activities during the construction management phase.
  • Monitor the interaction of various disciplines and call on specialist knowledge when required. 
  • Manage the execution of small projects, including site mobilisation and de-mobilisation, and managing on site works as required. 
  • Ensure environmental, occupational health and safety obligations relating to project activities are fulfilled. 
  • Prepare management reports detailing project progress and commercial status. 
  • Assist in the preparation of capital cost estimates. 
  • Prepare and administer contract documents including cost; quality and time related issues; maintain project cost control procedures; liaise with engineering personnel. Quality Assurance and Quality Control administration in accordance with contractual obligations 
  • Compliance with all Company policies and procedures, as amended from time to time, including the adoption of safe working practices at all times in accordance with Occupational Health, Safety, Welfare and Environmental policies, procedures and requirements. 
  • Work with the Engineering Services and Technical Services teams to ensure all engineering projects and initiatives are executed in a timely and integrated manager, to maintain uninterrupted production. 

 

To be success in this role, you will have: 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Project Engineering
  • Previous experience with  NPI projects in mining is essential to be considered for this role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree), Project Management or related disciple. 
  • Experience in site works and project or design engineering team, with site and office deliverables. 
  • Experience in planning, scheduling, and monitoring projects.
  • Experience in preparing tender documents and managing tender process. 
  • Experience working within operational and brownfields environments. 
  • Previous experience in Iron Ore Operations. 
  • Previous working experience in Project Execution, including Engineering, Construction and Contractor Management 
  • Experience and understanding of working with project phases from concept through to commissioning. 
  • Experience with project cost control procedures.
