Project Engineer

About the role:

This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Engineer looking for a role where they can make an impact and directly contribute to the development and delivery of new major mine site projects. Reporting to the Package Manager the purpose of this role is to plan, co-ordinate and control the design, procurement, and construction phases of a significant project.

 

Key duties:

  • Manage the specific functions of study, design, procurement and construction via the regular reviews of progress and costs.
  • Assist with the interface between engineering and construction team members, sub-contractors, and key stakeholders to provide solutions and support successful delivery of study and/or projects.
  • Management of variations by analysing the implications of scope change on issues such as cost, safety, quality, and schedule
  • Bring a technical knowledge and understanding and assist with the design of appropriate solutions to meet package deliverables
  • Assist in the management of all variation/TQ/RFI and action registers.
  • Manage project programming, cost control, time control, quality control, purchasing, contract administration, and indirectly oversee construction activities during the construction management phase.
  • Manage the execution of small projects, including site mobilisation and de-mobilisation, and managing on site works as required.
  • Prepare management reports detailing project progress and commercial status and assist in the preparation of capital cost estimates.
  • Prepare and administer contract documents including cost; quality and time related issues; maintain project cost control procedures; liaise with engineering personnel.
  • Quality Assurance and Quality Control administration in accordance with contractual obligations
  • Work with the Engineering Services and Technical Services teams to ensure all engineering projects and initiatives are executed in a timely and integrated manager, to maintain uninterrupted production.

 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum 6-10+ years’ experience in Project Engineering.in the mining sector with experience with Water and Civil, Electrical or Mechanical engineering.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering - preferably Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering Degree, Project Management or related discipline.
  • Experience in site works and project or design engineering team, with site and office deliverables.
  • Experience in preparing tender documents, managing tender process, planning, scheduling, and monitoring projects
  • Previous experience working within Iron Ore operational and brownfields environments.
  • Experience with startup/ feasibility / FID projects and project execution, including engineering, construction and contractor management.
  • Desirable chartered professional engineering status and
