About the role:

As part of Australia’s most successful private company, HanRoy has a mandate to lead the study, design, and development of a globally significant pipeline of projects that will provide ongoing supply of critical minerals and energy essential for everyday life.  Reporting to the project manager the Lead Cost Controller requires knowledge and experience across cost control, project controls, commercial and construction activities. The successful applicant will be responsible for the cost management system and processes, development of cost control capabilities and the provision of budget, invoice and cost forecasting services and support.

 

 

Key Duties:

  • Maintain, updating where necessary, the Project Management System applications SAP and CMS including data entry, weekly reports, and general transaction requirements.
  • Work within the work/cost breakdown structures for projects.
  • Enter and maintain budgets and forecasts for projects.
  • Work within the change controls process for projects.
  • Prepare up to date cost reports showing approved budget, commitments, expenditures, forecasts, paid to date and amount outstanding.
  • Assist the Project Controls Manager in preparing monthly reports with various cost reports.
  • Liaise with procurement and the contracts team and provide budget allocations for the packages of work.
  • Liaise with the Project and Area Managers to assist them to interrogate Contractor Preliminary Pre Payment Certificates.
  • Action the project teams purchase requisitions and work closely with the Procurement and Accounts team resolving issues relating to the requisitions.
  • Reconcile progress invoices, data entry preparation of progress payment certificates and carry out changes to commitment as required.
  • Work with the finance team to establish weekly evaluations of work completed, goods received, and services rendered for invoice preparation and verification.
  • Preparation of project invoices and data entry.
  • Manage the contracts operating register and communicate the status of the contracts against the updated schedule.
  • Ensure costs are approved in accordance with the DOA.

 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Degree qualification or equivalent experience in Project orientated Cost Management or Quantity Surveying.  
  • 10 years project control experience in the resources sector or complex construction and engineering environments.
  • Extensive experience in working with SAP and CMS cost systems is essential.
  • Advanced financial skills with considerable experience in preparing and managing budgets and cash flow management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the experience to effectively manage and resolve conflict between individuals and/or groups.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing, managing and reporting the cost components of mid to large-scale capital projects; including managing a progress reporting methodology
  • Sound understanding of project control principles, processes and techniques, including methods for transitioning from estimate to project budget, project cost and cash flow forecasting and analysis.
  • Well-developed conceptual, analytical, and planning skills.

This is a contract role for 15 months paid on a dayrate, to be eligible to apply for this role you must be legally permitted to work permanently in Australia.
