About the Role

This role is responsible for assisting both HanRoy Project and Functional Departments with day-to-day commercial requirements. The role includes managing commercial processes from pre-award through to close-out.

 

The core duties include tender/contract formation, contract negotiation, bid analysis, drafting recommendations for award, and management of Contracts in accordance with HanRoy’s contractual and procedural requirements, legal requirements, codes and standards.

 

Functional Support [40%]

  • Assist Contracts Principal in revising and improving processes and policies currently in place.
  • Assist functional teams with day to day commercial and procurement activities from pre-award to administration and close-out of contracts.
  • Maintain functional contracts registers and attend weekly functional meeting to assist the broader business.

 

Project Support [60%]

Provide commercial support for two currently underway iron ore feasibility studies by:

 

Pre-Award

  • Drafting contracts and purchase orders for award.
  • Engage relevant internal stakeholders in Tender Evaluations to leverage corporate knowledge to produce tender analysis. Identify shortlist of Tender candidates.
  • Drafting tender packages for issue to the market for competitive tendering and facilitate tendering process by responding to RFI’s from the market, and evaluation tender returns in accordance with HanRoy policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the negotiation and award of contracts, including the closure of all contractual departures.
  • Drafting recommendation for award documentation in accordance with HanRoy policies and procedures, and preparation of contracts for execution.

 

Administration

  • Assess monthly payment claims submitted by vendors in accordance with SOPA requirements.
  • Assess variation and claim requests in accordance with Contract and HanRoy policies and procedures.
  • Manage contracts register to ensure all contracts are awarded to meet project schedule.
  • Assist in end of month commercial reporting and updating of live registers.
  • Provide commercial support generally to the project team.

 

Essential

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience on contracts administration for major relevant mining projects and operations in relation to mine, port and rail project and maintenance.
  • Degree in relevant field such as Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or Law or equivalent experience in Mining or Contracts.
  • A basic understanding of Contract law and common law.
  • Proven skills in the development and review of bid and tender packages.
  • Experience in negotiating contract and commercial departures and conforming of contracts.
  • Able to drive change by influencing key stakeholders to enhance contracts process.
  • Ability to understand and draft formal correspondence in accordance with underlaying contract
  • Strong understanding of good commercial practice.
  • Ability to develop good working relationships with the team members and external parties, coupled with strong influencing skills.
  • Good financial and logical analysis capability.
  • Excellent written report writing skills.
  • Computing skills in Microsoft Office packages.
